The Age of Scorpio (20,000 – 17,500 BCE) finds our consciousness reaching ever upward, longing for the Divine, as the claws of the constellation of Scorpio reach up toward Libra, anticipating a long awaited Golden Age of unprecedented ease, peace and harmony. It is a time of sweetness when life is not quite perfect, but optimism is so high, joy and love so fierce that most always the correct path is inevitably known and taken. Continue reading

Of Divine Durga and Kali

Goddess Durga on her sacred Tiger

Goddess Durga on her sacred Tiger

The Myth: Goddess Durga was created from the fire issuing from the mouths of the divine trinity, Creator/Preserver/Destroyer, to defeat Ignorance in the world. She is very much related to the ancient Egyptian Sekhmet in this purpose. Durga is depicted riding a  tiger, and having eight arms each wielding a divine weapon of power as She goes into battle.

Ignorance is personified by the Buffalo Demon, Mahishasura, and Durga battles the beast and his army that the gods could not subdue. It was said that Mahishasura was invincible, except to a woman, and Durga does destroy him. However, three demons, Sumbha, Nisumbha, and Raktavira, She could not destroy. Enraged that She cannot finish Her task, Kali springs fully formed from Durga’s forehead to complete the job. This is strikingly similar to the Greek Zeus/Athena myth that appears during the patriarchal shift. Continue reading

This information will help you to personally get the most from this New Moon Healing Cycle: how to apply the healing suggestions, and to make the Great Year Cycle a powerful healing experience each month, each year.

While researching this information, I have found tantalizing bits here and there, remembered fragments and subconscious longings bubbling up into the collective conscious through art, story, and myth about the Age of Libra.

The Age of Libra (approximately 17,500 – 15,000 BCE) marks the zenith of human consciousness (not to be confused with technical achievement). It is the first of two ages of the Satya Yuga as the ancient Vedics called it; the Golden Age by the ancient Greeks; Zep Tepi, The First Time, by the far ancient Egyptians. That many diverse cultures have a story about it is an important clue to its veracity. We can never be certain how long an age lasted, or indeed how long the Golden part of the Golden Age lasted. It could have been relatively short – or not. I feel that the ages are variable, but  average 2000 year per age just to keep things simple. Continue reading

Musings on the Dark Goddess

Two Goddesses have recently asserted themselves into my life. I think they are important for us all.

Lilith was originally a Sumerian Goddess. In the Judaic/Christian myths, she was the first wife of Adam and made from similar substance: Earth. Adam was constructed of dust and Lilith from minerals. She refused to be subservient and when that was expected of her, she left. The patriarchs then painted a hideous picture of her as having copulated in the wilderness with the Devil and spawning demon children, bringing Evil into the world. She was even said to be the slayer of children. I reject these patriarchal embellishments since I have been shown a different story that seems closer to Truth. Continue reading

The Age of Virgo (approximately 15,000 – 12,500 BCE) is an extremely fascinating time. It is the age just coming out of The Garden, and moving headlong toward the vast changes that will be brought in by the Ages of Leo and Cancer. Continue reading

Musings on Astrology, Change and ‘Coming Out’

I have been studying astrology for many, many years. Since I was a teen in the early 70s, really. I have studied the stars for far longer. I remember, as a very small person, my dad pointing out the Big Dipper to me in a diamond-studded dark-night sky of the late 1950s. I was immediately hooked. My brother and I would often lie outside identifying the constellations whenever we could.

As an older person I learned that long ago astronomy and astrology had been combined sciences, and I longed for the rift between right-brain and left-brain to be healed once again. When I lived in the English countryside I got back to the night sky in my thirties and studied astrology formally with The White Eagle Lodge. I learned how to draw up astrology charts by hand mathematically. Slow and laborious doesn’t even come close.

The great Age of Leo has always had a draw for me. I felt from a young age that this was a pivotal era for humanity, and that what myths and stories surrounded this time, were shrouded in unconscious secrecy and mystery.

During the new moon in Leo 2014 this blog and its subject matter materialized. I took classes to learn Word Press (thank you, B!) during July/August last year and began writing. So, August is a coming full circle for me. I launched the blog at the Tropical Virgo new moon last summer. Our present new moon, at 21º 30′ Tropical Leo (27º Sidereal Cancer), is exact at 10:53 am EDT. Continue reading
